OUR FARMING OPERATION...

Our cattle are predominately angus or an angus cross breed.

The cows calve in late January, all of February and thru March. After calving they roam in small pastures and are fed a high roughage diet until May when they are put out to pasture. They graze on 300 acres of pasture during the summer months and are pulled out of the pasture in September. The calves are weaned from the cows and put in a dry lot where they are fed corn, hay and corn silage for 45 days. After that time period they are fed a high corn diet with a little hay and corn silage until they are harvested.

After weaning the calves, the cows are put in harvested corn fields to clean any fallen corn or waste feed. The herd stays there until the heavy snow falls, or, 30 days before they are ready to start calving again.

All of the feed given to the cattle is raised on our farm or purchased from local grain farmers.
